Are you a hands-on learner (or family of learners) looking to get your hands in the dirt while gaining knowledge and skills?

Do you want to make friends AND make a difference in the world? Need a safe place to curl up with some herbal books and a therapy cat, and some projects to keep your hands busy and your mind focused on something positive, or a spot to body double while you work on your own projects? You don’t need any gardening or herbal experience, just a willingness to learn, be kind, and work steadily for around 4 hours. WEDNESDAYS from 10-2:30, we’ll warm up with stretches and go over the day’s adventures, then dive in to whatever projects need doing. From bottling tinctures and creating herbal magic to making signs and tending gardens to helping with event planning, there’s always lots to do here at our Sanctuary of Sacred Earth Education! Plus, you’ll get to participate in the creation of a UNH master gardener project, the Native Plants of Ndakinna trail, and learn about botany, gardening, wildcrafting, herbalism, permaculture principles, and native habitats as we go.

This is often a physical day - some of the ways we’ll move our bodies include: bending and squatting, using pruners and loppers and other fun tools, lifting rocks and plants, pulling weeds, shoveling soil, pushing wheelbarrows, raking leaves, walking over uneven terrain. Neurodivergent folks and folks with different physical abilities are welcome. If you’d like to participate but have questions, just reach out to Jessica at (802)578-7931.

Participants are asked to wear clothes and shoes they are comfortable getting muddy (or bring a change of clothes), as well as bringing bug repellent and sunscreen, and a bagged lunch, snacks, and water bottle. All children must be accompanied by their adult(s) at all times, and there must be at least 1 adult for every 2 kids in your group. Kids need to be able to follow directions, and stay with their adult - books and drawing are welcome; electronics are not. If you’ve got questions, just reach out.

We will meet indoors and outside rain or shine.

We are a medically sensitive household; if you are feeling under the weather, please join us another time.

Suggested donation to keep us going is $20/day - all donations are gladly accepted, and noone is turned away for lack of funds. You MUST pre-register to attend and give Jessica a call to confirm.
